Sometimes life can just seem ‘hard’, ‘impossible’ and downright ‘unfair’. It’s what we do with it that makes the difference.
There has been a move over the past few years to appear to make life, and business, seem SO smooth, SO immediate and SO easily achievable for all and yet, when you read the small print, there always seems the need to be a bit of effort put in.
Sometimes some of the old sayings are absolutely right – HA – I guess they wouldn’t be here if there wasn’t some merit in them!
‘Rome wasn’t built in a day.’
‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’
‘How do you eat an elephant…? One bite at a time!’
So – what can we do?
I’ve come to the conclusion that, whether we like it or not, we come into this world to learn certain lessons. Sometimes those lessons can seem just plain irritating and sometimes they can seem insurmountable.
Have we made a ‘contract’ somewhere along the line? Maybe…
If you find that you are being prodded by similar ‘repeating’ experiences in life perhaps take a step back, consider what you’d be able to ‘see’ if it was happening to somebody else and what advice you’d give them.
Last night I went to sleep with the intention of writing an email to explain that I felt ‘hurt’ by a particular situation that I had become aware of.
I woke this morning and started mulling over the feelings I wanted to express and then… the heavens opened and the rain came down with such power and force it stopped me in my tracks!
Sometimes it’s what we DON’T say that can be even more powerful!
I let the hurt and disappointment wash away as I watched the rain pour down and immediately felt lighter, more empowered and know that, in this particular case, it’s a lesson (for me, at least) to be remembered for the future.
No matter how old I am, I realise there will always be lessons to learn.
